The Lord is using missionaries like Alok to share the Gospel with many different types of people in Goa.

“Will you pray?”

This is a phrase that Gospel for Asia native missionary Alok has heard many times while ministering to the villagers of Goa, India. These people, trapped by fear and despair, are searching for anyone willing to reach out and help them. Because Alok speaks five languages, he is able to respond in love to just about everyone he meets.

Sasmita’s parents were in tears. The nine-year-old burned with a fever so severe that it was causing trauma to her brain. Her doctors had tried everything to take away her sickness, but as time went on, her condition only worsened. So, the family brought the daughter to Alok.

Alok knelt in fervent intercession for this little girl. God heard his prayers, and the next day she was completely healed. Today, Sasmita is enjoying her life and happily attending school again.

Through Alok’s faithful prayer, another woman, Varsha, was healed and began walking with the Lord.

Varsha had grown up ardently following Buddhism, and then she married Harij, a nominal Christian man.

Soon, all nine of them turned away from their old lives and began closely following Jesus.

Varsha began experiencing excruciating back pain and went to several doctors for help. She tried many different treatments in an effort to get relief, but nothing worked.

Finally, she and her husband decided to go and look for someone who could pray for them. While they were out, they met Alok. Seeing Varsha’s condition, Alok invited them to come to the church he pastored for prayer. Alok and all of the believers gathered around Varsha and lifted her illness to the Lord. Then, feeling happy and peaceful, Varsha and Harij went home.

“Your prayers are working,” Harij told Alok when he called a few hours later. “Varsha is feeling much better!”

Within two weeks, Varsha’s pain was completely gone. After experiencing the Lord’s power, she and her husband both received Christ into their lives. Now they are actively involved in Alok’s church.

God also used Alok’s ability to speak different languages to help him lead nine people to Christ in His village. These people, who followed their traditional gods, worked with several believers from Alok’s church. These believers had shared Christ’s love with their co-workers, who then wanted to know more. The Christians brought their friends to Alok.

“Your prayers are working,” Harij told Alok when he called a few hours later. “Varsha is feeling much better!”

Alok began regularly visiting them in their homes, and he also shared the Gospel with them. Touched by the way Alok and the believers reached out to them, the people started attending worship services at the church. Soon, all nine of them turned away from their old lives and began closely following Jesus.

Through Alok’s heart for many different types of people and his ability to speak many languages, he is touching lives every day in Goa. Alok requests prayer that more people would come to know the Lord through his ministry. He also asks for prayer that those who have given their lives to Christ will continue to grow in Him.
