Missionaries After much opposition, the missionaries praised God when people started listening.

Gospel for Asia leaders in Assam, India, are requesting prayer for a village where the missionaries are laboring to sow the seeds of the Gospel in very hard soil.

There was no Christian witness in this village of 130 families. All of them were high-caste people who were very dedicated to their religion. Several GFA missionaries had a burden to bring the Gospel to the village and began praying fervently that God would let them have an impact there.

When the missionaries began giving people tracts and sharing in open-air meetings, the villagers, angered by the message, asked them to leave.

Undaunted, the missionaries set up a meeting with the village elders and asked them for permission to continue sharing the message of Christ. The elders reluctantly agreed—but the women of the village did not. They chased the missionaries out with brooms the next times they came back to the village.

After this, the missionaries prayed for God to make a way for them. And He did—the village head again gave them permission to come. And after much more work in the discouraging area, they even received an astounding request from the women of the village—they wanted the missionaries to show the film on the life of Jesus! The missionaries granted their requests, showing a version of the film in the villager’s own language.

Missionaries Several GFA missionaries felt a burden for a high-caste Assam village.

The attitudes of these villagers toward the missionaries gradually changed. Today the missionaries are praising God for the increased freedom they have to share the Gospel. They ask for prayers that many who saw the film will choose to follow Jesus.
