Gospel for Asia–supported pastor Mihir Chopra's burning desire is to bring Christ to those around him, and one way he's doing that is by providing the people with a Jesus Well.
Mihir noticed the serious need for pure, safe drinking water in this community. He knew a Jesus Well would help the people while also giving them with a chance to learn of God's refreshing love.
Before the Jesus Well, people had to wait for a city truck carrying water tanks to supply their need.
The truck is only available for a few minutes each day. If someone happens to miss the truck or isn't able to reach it in time, they don't get their water that day.
Sachit lives in Pastor's Mihir's community. He even tried to dig a well in his home to supplement his need for good water.
But because his well wasn't deep enough, the water isn't usable for drinking or cooking; it can only be used for washing.
With a Jesus Well now near his home, Sachit no longer has to worry about not having good, clean water to drink and cook with. He told Pastor Mihir that he was grateful for the good work he and his church have done for the community.
The local people who use the Jesus Well say that the water from other wells around town doesn't taste as clean and pure as that from the Jesus Well.
They also use it for a variety of other purposes. Those who lack water come to the Jesus Well to get water for washing clothes and dishes as well as cleaning their house. They no longer have to wait for the water truck!
Having this tangible expression of God's love, residents have come to realize that the Church isn't only dedicated to preaching the Gospel, it's also there to share His love in practical ways. As a result of this, the church where Pastor Mihir serves grew so much that they needed a new church building!
