Kundan Jaiteley pedals through beautiful scenery that would make for a good leisurely ride.
But this Gospel for Asia-supported missionary is far more focused on the people who work at and live around the tea plantations than on the natural beauty.
With a deep love for the people—and a passion to tell them about the hope they can find in Jesus—Kundan has been ministering in this area since 1997.
And his bicycle has been instrumental to his ministry. "The places that I am today able to visit and share the Gospel in were not possible to reach if I were to walk," Kundan says.
He rides his bike to various tea estates throughout the week to share the Good News. En route, he'll stop to tell people about Christ and pray for those who are sick.
He also visits believers' homes to pray for and encourage them.
On Sundays, Kundan's wife usually rides on his bike with him to the church he pastors. Together, they go and visit people's homes after the service.
Kundan also leads a team of missionaries.
In addition to having their own assigned mission fields, the men often meet to ride together for ministry as a team.
One great ministry opportunity they have discovered is the weekly market that takes place at the tea plantations on the day the laborers get paid.
Kundan and his team are able to give tracts to the vendors and their customers.
The men's efforts are bearing fruit: In one tea estate area, a new fellowship of 30 believers meets for worship. And there are 15 fellowships much like this one.
"Because of the bicycle I was able to go to far, distant villages and tea estates and do ministry," Kundan says. "As a result of this, there are churches today."
