On September 18, more than 5,000 people showed up to an event hosted by Gospel for Asia-supported churches in one Indian state. This event wasn’t a crusade or a conference. It was a soccer tournament.
Eight teams—each representing a different congregation—competed on the soccer field. In addition to food, each team received a New Testament and books by Dr. K.P. Yohannan in thanks for their participation.
But the real focus of this tournament centered on the many onlookers present. One of the pastors thanked them all for coming and shared with them about the churches’ vision and work.
Among those who heard about the ministry were the head of the local council and political leaders from a variety of parties.
The Gospel for Asia-supported pastors and missionaries had the opportunity to share the Good News with the audience, too. Every person who watched the tournament received a Gospel tract. Overall, the pastors and missionaries distributed thousands of Gospel tracts and 210 books by Dr. Yohannan.
Through this event, God opened a door for the churches to shine Jesus’ light to many people. By watching a tournament of one of the world’s most popular sports, they got to hear about the world’s true Hope.
