Mona’s life was shattered, with no one to pick up the pieces. In her childhood years, when she most needed love and acceptance, Mona felt anything but secure. Her alcoholic father created havoc in the Indian home with physical and verbal abuse.

Such mistreatment plagued Mona’s daily existence. How desperately she longed for someone to reach down and pull her out of her despair! But there was no one.

Mona even turned her back on the gods she worshipped. Despite her fervent devotion, she felt they had let her down.

It was at this low point that Mona saw a difference in her brother. He wasn’t as despondent as before, even though their father mercilessly beat and tortured him. This transformation intrigued her.

Then she discovered her brother had put his faith in Jesus, and even the pain their furious father inflicted could not sway him from his beliefs.

“His incredible stand and transformed lifestyle motivated me deeply,” Mona explains. “When I approached him, I could see the love and peace he had experienced in Jesus.”

Out of deep concern for Mona, her brother suggested she visit a local church to learn about the God who had brought him such comfort. And as she did, Mona saw that she was a sinner in desperate need of a Savior. When she put her trust in Jesus, “the loving Lord took control of my life and filled me with divine peace.”

What a refreshing change from her shattered childhood! Although her parents strongly opposed her choice, Mona could not be swayed. She knew she had found lasting comfort in the person of Jesus. And, she shares, “the Lord strengthened me to face every challenge and remain in Him.”

As Mona grew in her Christian walk, soon God gave her a burden to reach the lost. Today, this young woman who thought her life was beyond repair is ministering in her native India, sharing Christ’s redeeming hope with other broken lives.

Pray Mona and her brother will stand strong in their faith, despite the opposition from family and friends. Give thanks to the Father for His tender care and intervention in these young lives. Pray for His deliverance for their alcoholic father—and for the salvation of both parents.
