In the middle of the night in Chhattisgarh, India, Gospel for Asia native missionary Jaswant Chetan and his family woke up to find about 30 anti-Christian extremists in their house.

While the family slept, the mob arrived at their home, broke down the door and barged into Jaswant’s home before he and his family knew what happened. The group immediately began to question Jaswant and ordered him never to preach about Jesus in their village again. The mob’s fury made Jaswant’s family very frightened.

“If you do not leave in one week, you will face terrible consequences,” the mob yelled at Jaswant. After thoroughly harassing the family, the mob drove away into the darkness.

After a few days passed, Jaswant met with the village head. Jaswant asked him for permission to stay until the end of the school year, so his children’s education would not suffer from the move. In India, it is very difficult and uncommon for children to switch schools in the middle of the year, so the village head agreed.

“You cannot ever do ministry here again,” the village head told Jaswant. Although Jaswant and his family are allowed to stay in the village for a couple of months, his ministry there has been completely shut down.

But Jaswant has not let this terrible episode squelch his ministry in Chhattisgarh. He is now traveling each day to the next village to preach the Gospel of Christ! Jaswant requests prayer that God would give him grace and strength to stand for Christ in the midst of opposition.

Also pray that the anti-Christian extremists who are opposing Jaswant will have their hearts softened toward the Gospel.
