Church construction is often halted by opposition from anti-Christians. |
Three Gospel for Asia-supported missionaries serving in different areas are facing opposition as they erect church buildings.
In each instance, land was purchased, but as soon as construction work began, the local people and leaders of staunch anti-Christian groups hindered development.
One pastor, Zamir Singh, is building his church in an area which also contains a stone that the local villagers worship as their god. The people went to the police and filed complaints against the pastor because they felt the church is too close to their sacred stone. They threatened to damage the church building if construction resumed. The police stopped the work until a solution could be reached.
Another GFA-supported pastor, Urvaksh Khan, had to stop construction after villagers threatened him with severe consequences if he continued. Urvaksh and the believers have been facing a lot of opposition since work began to erect the building.
GFA-supported Pastor Pavak Kapur is constructing his church in a place where the majority of the people belong to a radical anti-Christian group. They are dead set against the new building and are being vocal about their unhappiness.
Prayer is needed for each of these pastors and the situations they now face.
- Pray God changes the hearts of those who adamantly oppose the Gospel and that He will intervene.
- Pray for protection over the pastors and the believers, and that they will stay encouraged during this time.
- Pray God gives wisdom to the police who are handling Pastor Zamir’s case and for a peaceful resolution.
