Ganesh Nair traveled to his uncle’s house to visit his family, but as soon as he arrived, his uncle picked up a knife and hurled it across the room, aiming for the young man.
Ganesh is a Gospel for Asia-supported missionary. His uncle, Gunjan, is a leader for an anti-Christian group in the village where they both live. Seeing the fruit of Ganesh’s labor, Gunjan became furious and tried to kill his own nephew.
“You are converting my own people to Christianity, which is a foreign religion!” Gunjan yelled.
Ganesh tried to talk to his uncle, but Gunjan would not listen. Instead he picked up a bamboo stick and beat his nephew.
The villagers who witnessed the abuse informed the local police of the situation. The police quickly arrived, and both Ganesh and Gunjan were taken to the station for questioning.
Ganesh has faced persecution from his uncle before, but it has not stopped him from continuing his ministry of spreading God’s love and truths to the villagers.
Our GFA field correspondent asks that we pray for Ganesh’s recovery and that his uncle will come to Christ and realize the extent of God’s grace and love in his life.
