Dressed in brilliant blues, oranges and greens, five young women in their early twenties ardently enter the small, run-down village in northern India. Chickens scatter across the dirt roads while children tentatively lift their eyes to view the newcomers.
Approaching a tiny hut in the middle of the village, the ladies begin conversing with an older woman. The light in her eyes intensifies as she experiences firsthand the genuine love of Jesus Christ.
With social barriers lying heavily on the northern state of Haryana, men, women and children suffer physically, mentally and spiritually. Thousands are in search of freedom and peace from the tormenting bondage of poverty and destitution.
Women, especially, are in desperate need of hearing the Gospel message. Social barriers prohibit a man from approaching a woman, so in order to reach them with the Gospel, Christian women must be willing to go out and show the love of Jesus.
Five graduates of the Gospel for Asia Girls Bible College in Ambala, Haryana, have taken this call seriously. With passion and persistence, these ladies visit various villages by foot or bicycle every day. Evangelism is done more efficiently when the ladies bicycle to their destinations. One woman says,” Since we have bicycles, the mobility of the team is increased three to four times.”
While witnessing to the women in each village, the ladies bring tracts and Bibles to distribute. During the week they lead worship and teach Sunday school at their church. Also, every Wednesday they visit hospitals in order to listen, counsel and pray with the women there.
Please pray for these five ladies as they set off each morning to reach women in dangerous and hostile villages with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for unity among the “sisters” as they come together with the goal of reaching all women in Haryana with the Gospel. Pray that the Lord will provide more bicycles for them as they seek to increase their efficiency and effectiveness in reaching each village with God’s love.
