Shibu could hardly bear to watch his wife writhe in pain. But he didn’t know what else to do. For quite some time, Beenita had been bedridden with severe pain in her stomach, and medication wasn’t curing her.

But then Shibu met GFA native missionary Ponnaiyan. The Lord has called Ponnaiyan to share the hope of Christ in Shibu’s spiritually needy area of South India. As part of his ministry among the unreached, Ponnaiyan regularly visits surrounding villages to share the Gospel.

And today he was in Shibu’s village. Shibu was all ears as Ponnaiyan spoke of Jesus, a loving God with the power to heal. He had a glimpse of hope for his family. Excited to hear of a God who heals, Shibu asked Ponnaiyan to come to his home and pray for Beenita.

Ponnaiyan gladly accepted the invitation. He tenderly prayed by Beenita’s bedside—and Beenita experienced God’s healing touch! Shibu and Beenita saw God’s powerful hand at work that day, and they wouldn’t soon forget it. They wanted to know this compassionate God who had reached down and healed Beenita. Repenting of their sins and embracing God’s free gift of salvation in Jesus, the couple and their family joyfully became new creations in Christ.
