Prayer Points for this Month
Gospel for Asia supports thousands of women serving in ministry throughout Asia. These women missionaries serve on Gospel teams that travel from village to village to share the love of Jesus. Others serve in Bridge of Hope centers, teaching children and organizing programs. Some are on staff at Bible colleges. Others lead GFA Women's Fellowship programs. They also organize children's activities, such as Sunday schools and vacation Bible schools.
These women need an extra measure of grace because South Asian society does not afford them the same measure of respect they would have in the West. Yet their constant desire and yearning to serve the Lord God Almighty drives them to continue diligently planting, sowing, watering and harvesting in the name of Jesus.
- Illiteracy is a problem for women in South Asia. The female literacy rate in India* stands at only 50 percent. Pray for the women missionaries who teach basic literacy classes for the women in the villages where they minister.
- Pray for God to use the cultural restrictions on women for His glory. Interactions between men and women are strictly controlled in Asian society. But women missionaries can easily talk to these women.
- Pray for godly marriages. Arranged marriages are still very much the norm throughout South Asia. A woman missionary may be the first believer in her family and this makes it difficult to arrange a marriage for her. Pray that God would orchestrate marriages to godly men and that these couples will serve Him all their lives.
- Ask the Lord to anoint the women missionaries' interaction with the elderly and the infirm. This often neglected portion of the population is hungry to hear that someone loves and cares for them. They are desperately waiting for someone to share hope with them.
- Seek the Lord's blessing on the safety of all our women missionaries. Crimes against women in South Asia are increasingly common and can be difficult to prosecute.
- Pray for Munay and Runada, two GFA-supported women missionaries who are facing a lot of harassment. You can read their story here.
