Two Tries for a Well
The well walls collapsed on the workers because heavy rain had made them too soft to stand.

Ominous clouds hovered above as the workers scrambled to finish the Jesus Well before the downpour hit. But one by one, raindrops began to hit the dirt walls of the new well, turning them to mud. After a few hours of steady rain, the eroded walls gave way and covered the workers head to toe. Crawling out of the collapsed well, they wondered if a well shaft would ever hold up in this remote village in Manipur, India.
This village had no clean water source. The wealthy people could buy pure water in jugs, but the poor had to walk about three miles to the nearest source of drinkable water.
Gospel for Asia native missionary Murari Manik, who serves in the village, had seen the great need and requested that a Jesus Well be dug. Construction began, and after digging only 15 feet, the rain began to pour, forcing the workers to wait out the storm. This pattern continued until finally, the soil became so saturated that the well collapsed while the men were working.

Unmoved by the discouraging situation, Murari and the local believers persevered and found a new plot of land where the well could be dug. After receiving permission from the village authorities, Murari organized the workers to dig. The rain held off, and this Jesus Well was completed in June.
The believers and Murari are thankful that the Lord provided for the completion of the project. Now many of the villagers regularly visit the Jesus Well for fresh water and have expressed their deep gratitude. When they come for water, Murari is able to tell them about the love of Christ.
Murari requests prayer that many people will receive Jesus after experiencing His love through the practical gift of a Jesus Well.
