SEND! Web Extra: A Life Poured Out - Profile of a GFA Bible College Student

The things Jasmi is learning in the classroom will equip her to labor on the mission field. She has a heart to reach her village for Christ.
When Jasmi Verma* received Christ, she was the only Christian in her village. Now, through her witness, two other young women have embraced the Christian faith—before she has even graduated from the Gospel for Asia women's Bible college where she is training for ministry. This fruit for God's kingdom has not come without hardship; and the road Jasmi has traveled since coming to know her Savior has not been easy.

Growing up in Northeast India, Jasmi primarily knew the gods of her Hindu tradition. She knew nothing of Jesus, or that He had given His life to redeem her. But then her sister and brother-in-law came to know Christ, and they shared the Gospel with her when she visited them.

Jasmi was happy to hear about a loving Savior and went home and told her parents, but they were far from pleased. Instead, they were angry and resentful that their daughter would disrupt their family's traditions by bringing in this new religion.

Their response concerned Jasmi, but God continued working in her life. Within a few days, Jasmi heard Him calling to her in a dream. He appeared to her three times, telling her to receive Jesus and follow Him.

As Jasmi pondered these things over the next week, boils appeared on her body. Believers who knew of Jasmi's plight were earnestly praying for her, and she, too, prayed for her own healing. She also thought back to when her brother-in-law had shared with her about Jesus.

After three more nights of enduring the painful boils, Jasmi again heard God's call to her in a dream, asking her to receive Jesus and assuring her that through Him, she could receive healing. Jasmi responded and received Christ into her heart.

Even though she has suffered her parents' rejection for her Christian faith, Jasmi radiates the joy of the Lord.
Her parents were furious with her for receiving Christ, and the rest of her village turned on her as well. Jasmi's parents even neglected their own daughter's needs as she suffered from the boils—but as Jasmi prayed to Jesus, she was healed completely.

Regularly attending church, Jasmi grew steadily in both her knowledge of God's Word and her love for the One who had given her physical and spiritual healing. Jasmi knew she wanted to serve the Lord, and a missionary referred her to the Gospel for Asia women's Bible college and helped her enroll.

After her first year in training at the Bible college, Jasmi had the opportunity to return home during break. Deeply yearning to touch the lives of those who had ridiculed and scorned her for her Christian faith, Jasmi fasted and prayed for two days before traveling there. She devoted her break to sharing the Gospel in her native area—and two young women approached her. Like she once was, they were in need of healing and eternal hope. As she prayed for the two young women and shared the Good News of Jesus, each was healed and received Christ.

With a special heart for her native village, Jasmi continues to study and serve God at the Bible college.

"Wherever the Lord sends me," she shares, "I am ready to go."
