Delivered from Satan's Clutches

Engaging in outreach in a place where many are caught in deep-rooted spiritual darkness, GFA missionary Jaival never knows who might cross his path.

One woman he met was Pariyat. Jaival handed her a Gospel tract—one titled In Search of the Truth. As he spoke with her at length, Jaival could see she was going through deep struggles.

Pariyat was possessed by an evil spirit and had suffered constantly for the past four years. But after she met Jaival that day, the Lord brought her to the church where he serves as pastor. During the time of worship, God powerfully delivered Pariyat from the satanic powers that had a grip on her.

Lalima and her two children had no peace. But she knew about a nearby church and began attending with the hope that Jesus could help her family. As she listened to God's Word, she experienced the peace she'd been seeking and put her trust in Jesus as her Savior. Lalima faithfully attended church, even when her husband tried to stop her.

Shamak, the GFA missionary who pastored Lalima's church, earnestly prayed for her husband's deliverance and encouraged her to trust God for his physical and spiritual freedom.

In time, God delivered Haroon from his addiction. He has begun to attend church, and Lalima prays for her husband with a growing faith.

Her Last Resort
Puneet suffered from a mysterious illness. For a full week, he had been unable to sleep, day or night, and his health was rapidly deteriorating.

Puneet's mother tried various means to seek his healing, including black magic, sorcery, witchcraft and palmistry—but all her attempts turned up futile. Then, as a last resort, she contacted some young women who were missionaries in her village, telling them about her son's strange disease. In turn, these young women told her about God's redemptive love, assuring her that He could bring Puneet physical healing as well.

With tears, Puneet's mother asked the women to pray for her son. The sisters joined their hearts and voices in earnest prayer for the boy. Then the next day, Puneet was healed completely! His mother joyfully reported the good news to the missionaries, telling them she and her family now knew that Jesus is the true and living God.

No Village Gods Could Heal Him

Mitul lived with a heavy burden. His son, Daiwik, was often attacked by an evil spirit, and he would roam the village like a madman. Mitul took him to many places for treatment, including the village priest, but nothing helped. It deeply troubled Mitul to see his son suffer in such misery, and the whole family was distressed.

Then Mitul brought his son to GFA missionary James Nanad for prayer—and to his great joy, Daiwik was completely delivered.

Mitul was amazed. He had spent a large sum of money seeking relief for his son. But in the end, he saw that his village gods could not heal Daiwik—only Jesus could. Mitul and his whole family came to know Christ as a result and began faithfully attending James's church in a neighboring village.

Healing from an Axe Injury

Sanjib, 26, often cut wood to help his family. Tragically, one day the axe slipped from his grasp and fell on his leg.

Sanjib was taken to the hospital with his leg bleeding profusely. An exam revealed a severed vein. When the bleeding wouldn't stop, the doctor told Sanjib he needed surgery.

This was discouraging news, because Sanjib and his parents couldn't afford the operation. But they were Christians and were part of a church where GFA missionary Jaladhar serves as pastor. Sanjib's father asked Jaladhar to pray for his son, which the pastor gladly did; he also spent time encouraging the family.

A few days later, when Sanjib went to the doctor for a checkup, he received amazing news: His leg was totally healed! After seeing this incredible work of God in their lives, Sanjib and his family now joyfully tell others in their village of His marvelous doing.

Hope for a Naughty Boy

Most of the children in Gospel for Asia Bridge of Hope centers are excited to be there and are attentive in class activities, but Ashok was not one of them. The third-grader was untamable—even his own parents could not bring his behavior under control.

Ashok often had to be kept separate from the other children so he wouldn't hurt them. More than once, his mother had to apologize to other parents for his unruly behavior.

The situation became so desperate that some parents threatened to withdraw their children from the center if Ashok continued to be enrolled there. Knowing only God could change Ashok, the staff began earnestly praying for him.

Then one day, Ashok's mom visited the Bridge of Hope center to tell about a dramatic improvement in her son's character. He was behaving himself at the center too—and it brought great joy to both his parents and the Bridge of Hope staff to see him singing, praying and studying attentively. In just a short time, this once naughty little boy became a shining example for others to follow.

A Younger Sister's Example

Although she comes from a poor family, 10-year-old Adkala has truly blossomed at her GFA Bridge of Hope center in Manipur. The third-grader is bright and talented, and she enjoys attending Sunday school as well.

But Basanti, her 15-year-old sister, initially resented Adkala's involvement. She reproached her younger sister for attending Sunday school and tried to stop her from going. Adkala was deeply hurt and cried over her sister's mistreatment, but she did not let Basanti's attempts keep her from attending Sunday school.

As Basanti observed her younger sister, however she noticed big changes in her behavior and realized it was because of Adkala's active participation in Sunday school. Because of the changes she saw in Adkala, Basanti herself decided to start attending church regularly. The heart of a teenager was opened to the Gospel—all because of the brave example of a younger sister whom she used to taunt.
