Mising Church Springs Up through Radio
Through listening to a GFA Radio broadcast, Chandra, a Mising village chief, became the first in his community to receive Christ. Others also soon came to Christ through the broadcasts. |
Listening further, he discovered amazing things unlike anything he had ever heard. Chandra had not known there was a God beyond the sun, moon and other elements of nature he worshipped. But today, through the airwaves, he was hearing a man speak in his language about this God, and the salvation Jesus offers. He embraced this salvation and wanted others in his village to hear about it, too.
"Come and listen," he urged them often. The respect the community held for Chandra as the leader paved the way for openness to the broadcast, and a number of people began to tune in regularly.
And as God's Word took root in their hearts, Chandra's family, as well as others, joyfully received Christ. Together they formed a small church.
Chandra deeply desired to see his children reach many for Christ. When he found out that there was a Gospel for Asia Bible college for Mising people, he was very excited and sent his son Bipul.
When Bipul finished his training at the Bible college, he returned to his home village to pastor the growing church.
Through the believers in this village, a church was planted. Their building is a simple, metal-roofed structure made of bamboo poles, mats, and mud.

The voice Chandra heard through the airwaves belonged to Praval Taleng.
