Meet the first-ever Gospel for Asia women's mobile team. The team, shown loading up their vehicle, travels from village to village in Andhra Pradesh, India, sharing the Gospel.
Each of the young women on the team graduated from a GFA Bible college. At this stage in life, most Indian women are already married. These women are defying culture and tradition to answer the call to share the Gospel.
Ananti is the team leader. She is serious, sensitive, task oriented and has a great burden to reach the lost. Sarah Faith is assistant leader. She is like the mother of the group, full of love and quick to smile.
Jyoti (left) is the team's driver. Most Indian women do not drive, and Jyoti raised her own money to attend driving school. Tavishi (right) is assistant driver and is also in charge of the audio/visual equipment. She is shy with a fun streak that takes you by surprise.
Vina (left) is in charge of all the Gospel literature. Her outgoing, fun nature gives her a natural boldness in sharing the Gospel. Latangi (right) was the last women to join the team. Her shy, quiet nature brings balance to the group.
The teachers, students and leaders at Hyderabad Bible College had a commissioning ceremony for the Women's Team before they went to the field.
At the ceremony, everyone surrounded the women and the vehicle they will be driving.
Under the searing hot sun, the students join in prayer for the team. This is the most important part of the commissioning service, and they do not rush it.
After being encouraged and bathed in prayer, the first GFA Women's Mobile Team heads out on its mission. Their first stop is a village several hours northeast of the college where they will work with a GFA-supported missionary.
These women feel like pioneers. They know that they will be challenged, tested and changed during their time on the field. Yet they are excited about the unique opportunities they have to share the Gospel.
