Gospel for Asia recently sent its first women's mobile team to the mission field. These women are ministering in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The women's mobile team travels in a no-frills, jeep-like vehicle built to withstand the dirt roads and rough terrain. They inaugurated their ministry in a small town where they're working with Pastor Peter, another GFA native missionary.
The women grab stacks of Gospel tracts and set out to meet the people in this small town. They go house to house during the day, when the women and the elderly are likely to be the only ones at home.
In Indian culture, it is not proper for a man to visit a woman when her husband is not there. The women, however, are welcome in most homes. The women's mobile team has many opportunities to share the Gospel that male missionaries simply don't have.
On this particular day, the women encounter many people with serious physical needs. This woman has lived with the swelling of her leg for more than 20 years. The women spend time talking and praying with her.
Some people are happy just to have someone to talk to. This elderly man told Ananti that old age had left him lonely, sad and with no one to care for him. She told him about the never-ending love of Jesus and prayed for him.
The next day they are up early, praying with Pastor Peter in preparation for another day of ministry.
On this day, they are scheduled to work in a village about 10 miles away. Before they set out, Jyoti makes sure the vehicle is ready for the journey.
After visiting every house in the village, they set up a generator and PA system to have an open-air meeting. The women sing songs and perform skits, all designed to communicate God's love in a way the village people will understand.
On this day, the women visit four villages where many are open to hearing the Gospel. This man and all three of these elderly women prayed to receive Jesus.
The next morning finds the women's mobile team back on the road for another day of sharing the Gospel with the people of Andhra Pradesh.
