Laris's Testimony

I was born June 17, 1990, into a nominal Christian family in India. My family includes seven members. My father is a businessman and mother is a housewife. Though we called ourselves Christians, we never knew what it meant to have a personal relationship with the Lord. Occasionally, we went to church for worship, we went but most of the time we were far away from the activities of the church.

However, since childhood, along with the neighboring children I regularly attended Sunday school, Sunday services and other programs in the church. But I was not aware of the importance of attending the church activities. Sadly as I grew older, I stopped giving importance to the spiritual activities and did everything as I wished. Years later, my father was afflicted with tuberculosis and suffered greatly.

Even though we took him to several hospitals and consulted with many doctors, none of our efforts granted him healing. Day after day, his condition deteriorated and we were deeply frustrated about his life. Finally, hoping to be healed we took him to our church and requested the pastor to pray for him. Knowing that we were far from the Lord, he started speaking to us from the Word and made us understand that we were in darkness. At the end of the sharing, he prayed for my father and miraculously he was healed within a week time. That day we decided to live for Jesus alone, and confessing our sins along with my family members I received Jesus as my personal Savior.

The joy of the Lord filled our hearts, when we welcomed Him into our family. From that day on, we started giving much priority to the Lord's ways and trusted Him for everything. Moreover, I set apart more time in God's presence, praying and meditating on the Word and drew closer to Him. In the meantime, I made a public testimony of my faith. As days went by, I felt that I must do something for the extension of God's kingdom, and I prayed about it. When my calling was confirmed, I enrolled in a Gospel for Asia Bible School to be trained for the great harvest ahead.

Present Ministry

At present, I am serving the Lord as a Bible woman among the non-Christians in India. To win them for Christ, I pass out Gospel tracts, visit houses and do personal evangelism. I also organize home-prayer meetings, women's fellowships and Sunday school.

Please pray that the Lord would use me effectively for the building up of His kingdom.
