Shambhu's Testimony
I was born May 18, 1980, into a non-Christian family in Nepal. Even though we worshipped countless gods and goddesses, we did not have peace or joy in our lives. We faced severe problems in our family due to the cruelty of my father who drank excessively, and beat my mother and us severely. Besides, he was a witch doctor as well. But later, during 1997, he passed away.
One morning, I suddenly fell sick and started suffering from severe headache and other physical ailments. We tried black magic and also performed special 'poojas' (rituals) in order to get healing. Regardless of all these, I was not healed. A few days later, when I could get up from the bed and walk, I went to a famous temple in our village twice a day and fulfilled all the vows I made while I was on my sickbed. To my deep discouragement, none of these bore fruit, rather I almost went mad.
In my demented stage, I forgot my family and lived in a lonely place. Meanwhile, my elder brother came in search of me and lovingly asked me to return home. I refused to go with him, and that day I attempted suicide. But my brother who came after me, saved my life and took me home.
While I was at home, someone gave me a Gospel tract. One day, when I was in my senses, I took the tract and began to read it. Immediately, I felt something good in my mind, and I gave the pamphlet to my family members and asked them to read it. Kindled within a ray of hope for my healing, we decided to believe in Jesus. And that day, we all received Christ into our lives as our personal Savior and Lord, except for my wife.
Before long, a miracle happened in my life that the Lord healed me completely, and I became all right. My joy knew no bounds, and with a grateful heart, I began to worship the Lord in truth and Spirit. Growing in my Savior, I obeyed His command in making a public profession of my faith. Meanwhile, I had to go through a tragic situation. My wife passed away without receiving the assurance of salvation. This deeply distressed me. But my Redeemer stood beside me, comforted my aching heart and wiped my tears.
My Master's promises and His Word made me stronger in faith. Spending time with Him prayer, one day, He called me for His ministry. I surrendered myself to the will of God and after much prayer, I enrolled in a Gospel For Asia Bible school to be trained for an effective ministry.
Present Ministry
I serve the Lord as an evangelist in Nepal, where the non-Christians are the majority. Personal evangelism, house visitation, home-prayer meetings, Gospel-literature distribution, Sunday school and church-planting work are the various ministries that I am involved in to propagate the Good News of my Master to the lost.
Please pray for me that the Lord would grant me His wisdom to study the Word profoundly and use me for the expansion of His kingdom.
