High up in the central mountains of Sri Lanka, where a lot of the world's tea is grown, a Gospel for Asia-supported missionary is patiently working.
GFA-supported pastor Chandan shares God's love in the most expensive church building in Sri Lanka.
The construction is sturdy and the form is simple, but the price of this church was several times the normal cost. Wondering why?
During the construction process, Chandan's building was destroyed five times by anti-Christian extremists.
Rubble from a previous structure serves as a visual reminder of the struggles Chandan faced in his ministry. It was a devastating blow to watch his work destroyed time after time.
But the call God placed on Chandan's life to reach the people with the love of Christ kept him going, even when saboteurs destroyed the church, damaged his home and beat him. He wasn't going to allow such small setbacks to deter him from his ministry!
Now that the church building is finally complete, it stands as a beacon to the lost. In fact, some of Chandan's former persecutors now come every Sunday and worship with him!
The man responsible for orchestrating the opposition against Chandan is now in prison, and Chandan's ministry is growing unopposed. Please pray for much more fruit in his ministry.
