The Power of His Word

From the opening chapter in the history of Gospel for Asia, our vision has been to bring the light of the Gospel to the most unreached people of Asia. The printing of thousands of Scriptures monthly has supported GFA’s commitment to provide God’s Word to every family. The mission of GFA Bible Society is to provide missionaries and churches with this most important tool for winning the lost and discipling believers.

The same commitment is evident in the life of Pastor Siddharth, a GFA missionary dedicated to reaching people with the Gospel in Manipur, India. One night a church member told him about a young girl who was demon-possessed. The pastor picked up his Bible and headed toward the door.

By the time he got to the girl’s house, she had become unconscious. She had already been taken to one doctor who could not find a cure for her mysterious condition. Her parents were confused and frightened by their daughter’s behavior.

Pastor Siddharth encouraged the family to trust in the Lord and read passages from the Scripture. He laid his hands on the girl and began thanking and praising God; then he commanded the demon to leave.

Immediately the Lord answered his prayer! The girl regained consciousness but had no memory of what happened to her. Her family praised the Lord for His dramatic intervention.

Not only are the girl and her family thanking the Lord for the power of His Word, but Pastor Siddharth is thankful for his Bible, available to him “for such a time as this.”

Gospel for Asia agrees with Scripture that “man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). That is why GFA Bible Society is committed to printing God’s Word so that those in Asia can, in turn, be committed to the Lord.
