Two Families Find Peace
As heads of their households, Naresh and Sanjay had long yearned for peace in their homes-something they never found in the deities they worshipped. Then Ram Nair, a Gospel for Asia native missionary, told the two families in West Bengal, India, about Jesus-and they embraced the One who offered them true peace.
Today, their faith in Christ has liberated them. But because they are going against established tradition, it has also subjected them to much opposition from their village. Sustained by the Lord's peace and presence, the families are standing firm in their new faith-to them a pearl of great price.
Ram is encouraged by these families and the others whose lives he has seen changed by the Gospel. Of course, not everyone has been receptive to the 27-year-old missionary. Ram recently encountered a person who threatened him because of his stand for the Gospel, warning him not to witness in that village. Local anti-Christian extremist groups are also causing problems for Christian workers. Far from deterring Ram, the opposition has served as a constant reminder to pray for those who need Jesus.
Did You Know?Monthly cost to help support a native missionary: $30
The challenges Ram faces are not unlike what many of GFA's 16,500 native missionaries face often, sometimes daily. These men and women have heard and followed God's call to carry the message of Christ's hope to the unreached and are willing to die for His sake, if need be.
Because these missionaries are from the same parts of the world as those to whom they minister, they do not look like foreigners, and many people are willing to listen to them. Through the witness of these courageous men and women, churches and fellowship groups are being planted daily in 10 countries across South Asia.
