Winter Clothing
Think about what it's like to be outside on the coldest days in the winter. You were probably very grateful for the warm coat that protected you from the elements. Now think about working in the frigid climate of the Himalaya Mountains, but this time you don't have access to adequate, warm, winter clothing. That was the situation Gospel for Asia missionary Ashka found himself in a few years ago.
Thanks to God's provision and the faithfulness of GFA friends, Ashka doesn't have to suffer when he walks for miles in the snow to share the love of Jesus. Ashka received a Winter Clothing Packet, and he now has a warm coat, gloves, a scarf, a hat and even hiking boots!
For missionaries like Ashka joyfully proclaiming the Good News of Christ in cold regions in the dead of winter, the gift of winter clothing is one that will extend their ministry and provide them with warmth for years to come.

Even though most parts of the Indian subcontinent don't receive snow in the winter, it does get cold during these months. Sometimes a dry pile of leaves lit on fire helps to stave off the early morning chill.
Without indoor heating, Gospel for Asia native missionaries wrap themselves in blankets to stay warm. North India and the countries of the Himalayas often will see winter temperatures drop below freezing.
This missionary in Nepal wraps a shawl around his neck on a cold morning.
Two missionaries show "before and after" the Winter Clothing Fund provides a coat and hiking shoes (both missionaries receive the warm weather clothing!).
A good pair of hiking shoes (left) will last about a year and a half in the rugged terrain of the Himalayas. Another missionary shows what he wore before he received his hiking shoes.
According to our field leader in Nepal good hiking shoes enable the missionaries to be much more productive during the winter months. Instead of staying inside for warmth, they can be out sharing the Gospel and visiting believers.
Winter clothes do make a difference for GFA native missionaries as they reach remote villages to bring lost souls to Jesus Christ.
GFA missionaries—both men and women—are very grateful for the winter clothing that allows them to share the Good News of Jesus Christ all year long!
