Text from this PhotoShow:

Stronger-than-usual monsoon rains have caused massive flooding in the island nation of Sri Lanka.
More than 400,000 people have been driven from their homes by the flood waters.
In many places, the people are taking shelter in Buddhist temples. The temples are nearly always built on the highest point in the village, so they are a safe place to escape the floods.
Unfortunately, the temple is only able to provide basic shelter. The Buddhist monks are not able to feed the families that have congregated under their roofs.
GFA World Compassion Services teams are fanning out across the country, providing emergency food supplies.
With the cooperation of the monks, GFA missionaries and volunteers are distributing food to those sheltered in the temples.
These desperate people are grateful for this simple act of kindness shown to them in their time of great need.
Many have lost their crops and have no other way to feed their families. They are looking for help from our missionaries, too.
The emergency food rations are only the first step in helping the Sri Lankans. Many of their flood-damaged homes will need to be repaired—or rebuilt. GFA missionaries and volunteers will be there, helping them with these practical needs while sharing the hope found in Jesus.
