Text from this PhotoShow:
A year ago, on December 26, 2004, Malik and his wife Sunitha and their children survived the Asian tsunami with little more than their lives.
Their house was completely destroyed, and they were left homeless, helpless and hopeless.
All that was left were small reminders of the life they once had.
Today, Sunitha cooks for her family in a temporary shelter, doing her best to provide them with nourishment.
Malik was a fisherman before the tsunami, but now earns barely one tenth what he did fishing, 50 rupees a day—about a dollar—by doing odd jobs.
Malik's desire is to return to fishing, but he lacks the resources to do so.
He dreams of having a fishing boat again so he can provide for the needs of his family.
But no matter how long physical recovery may take, Malik and Sunitha have found a new source of hope that will last forever—faith in Jesus Christ.
They responded to this message of hope when GFA World provided relief work in their area, and now Malik and Sunitha are thankful for their relationship with Jesus.
