Text from this PhotoShow: During his time at a Gospel for Asia Bible college, Jaiman Kumar sensed God calling him to serve in Rajasthan, India, in the same area where he had grown up. In time, he was able to minister in the region that God had placed on his heart. He knew that this area with its rugged terrain would also be challenging soil to reach spiritually. Being familiar with the desperate spiritual need of the people, Jaiman felt deep compassion toward them. He knew there was no one else laboring among them to share the Good News. But Jaiman's ministry there got off to a rough start. Some people responded to the Gospel message with enthusiasm. Others opposed him and his message. Yet he knew the Lord would use him to reach his people. The opposition culminated on what was supposed to be Jaiman's wedding day, when a mob of villagers gathered outside his house, beating against the walls. The village chief, Rakesh Rajput, helped organize the mob that ruined Jaiman's wedding day. He thought Jaiman was trying to shatter the peace by taking the villagers away from their traditional religions. Jaiman told Rakesh about Jesus and gave him a New Testament. Over time, God moved in Rakesh's heart through the Scriptures. Then he asked the missionary to pray for his daughter who was thought to be suffering from demon possession. She was healed, and Rakesh gave his life to Christ. Rakesh now follows Jesus with great enthusiasm and encourages the villagers to visit Jaiman's church. Today, by God's grace, Jaiman's ministry is flourishing. His growing church meets faithfully each week for worship, fellowship and to hear from God’s Word. Jaiman also has started five small fellowship groups in surrounding villages. Oh, yes, Jaiman and Sangeeta were finally able to get married and are now serving the Lord together in Rajasthan, the place closest to their hearts. date posted 04/08/08 |
