But in many mountainous areas of the continent, temperatures plummet below freezing. In these extreme conditions, villagers must bundle up to even step outside. But most can't afford the proper clothing and must huddle inside their homes in a feeble attempt to stay warm. When temperatures drop into the single digits, it also becomes very difficult for Gospel for Asia missionaries to share about Jesus if their only shoes are flip-flops. But with a sturdy pair of walking shoes, the missionaries' feet are protected from the chill—and more comfortable on the rough terrain. With warm clothes like a thick jacket, warm pants, winter hats, woolen gloves, thick socks and good shoes, GFA missionaries can more easily travel to share Christ's love. With joy and happiness written on his face, missionary Suraj Magar gladly puts on the items he was given in a GFA Winter Clothing Packet. He is delighted that he is now be able to go out in winter and share the Gospel. The missionaries are so happy to receive warm clothes for ministry that they immediately offer prayers of gratitude to the Lord. GFA missionary Kavin Rashil is also thrilled to receive his warm coat. Now he can travel to any part of his region in the cold of winter, which used to be extremely difficult. Walking from village to village in the biting frost was nearly impossible for these missionaries. But today, trekking through the mountains with the light of Christ is possible because of their durable insulated gear. Through the generosity of fellow believers in the West, these missionaries are now equipped to minister to their people tucked away in the snow-capped mountain villages across Asia. date posted 09/09/08 |
