GFA Brings Hope amid Destruction

Dr. K.P. Yohannan talks with four fishermen in a Tamil Nadu refugee camp. Two of them shaved their heads, a sign of deep sorrow. All four men lost their wives to the tsunami, and each one has two children who survived and for whom they are now fully responsible. "We don't know what to do," they told Dr. Yohannan. "Will you help care for our children?"
This woman miraculously escaped the tsunami and gave birth the very next day. She and her newborn are being cared for in one of GFA World's transition camps in India.
An elderly woman begs Dr. K.P. Yohannan not to leave after sharing with him that she lost her entire family and all her material possessions to the tsunami. GFA World is in the process of identifying elderly tsunami survivors and ensuring they are receiving the care they need.
GFA relief workers provide the tsunami survivors with basic necessities for daily living — including sleeping mats, clothing, food and cooking pots. For those who are unable to lift heavy loads, missionaries will help carry the supplies to their tents.
GFA native missionaries (in yellow shirts) have now also become relief workers as they bring physical aid and the message of hope in Jesus Christ to tsunami survivors in India and Sri Lanka. More than 2,000 missionaries and believers are now in the refugee camps, working around the clock to care for these people's needs.
Dr. K.P. Yohannan prays for three children who lost both parents to the tsunami. "Wherever I went," he says,"people were always asking for prayer."
GFA World is providing tents like these in Sri Lanka to Asian families who have been displaced by the tsunami.
Children who have lost everything—like these two little girls in Sri Lanka—are able to laugh in the midst of their sorrow, because they are learning that someone loves them and cares for them.
