When Pastor Jeyasingh graduated from Gospel for Asia's Tenkasi Bible College in 1996, little did he realize the challenges that lay ahead for him.
The Lord called him to an area in South India where the powers of darkness ruled. The many temples on the hills surrounding his village created a mood of spiritual oppression.
Jeyasingh found the people very resistant to the Gospel, and he saw very little fruit from his ministry efforts. Many threatened him telling him not to preach the Gospel in their village.
After several years, Pastor Jeyasingh Jeyasingh was seeing very little fruit from his labor. He spent a lot of time praying during this time of trial.
Soon the Lord showed him the desire for a good education that poor parents had for their children. They did not want to see their children end up with the same low paying jobs they had.
Pastor Jeyasingh saw a great open door for sharing the Gospel and approached the GFA leadership for the permission to start a Bridge of Hope school in his village.
The Lord provided an old chicken shed as a school building.
In no time at all he had more than 50 students, ages 3 to 5, and several teachers helping him.
The children eagerly responded to the teacher's loving care—and to their stories and songs about Jesus.
A father named Joseph sees a new hope for his daughter's future through the education she is receiving.
Prabhu has seen his son's behavior change for the better since attending the Bridge of Hope school.
And now, as a result of the school, Pastor Jeyasingh's church has been growing as children and adults respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
