"I serve the living God, and I will not bow down to anyone except Him," Matish Junni, 30, told his attackers. On December 23, extremists attacked Matish and brutally beat him in front of his wife and children. Five days later, they burned Matish's house and belongings.
Matish suffers for sharing the hope of Jesus, but the Lord is bringing much fruit through his labors. Dozens have come to Christ. Like the congregation pictured here, they are eager to grow in Jesus.
Anand Nipun is another GFA missionary who has come under attack in India. On December 26, extremists told Anand to leave the village immediately or they would kill him. So Anand and his family sought refuge in another location.
They returned to find that the extremists had vandalized and destroyed their new church building. "Constructing the church in this place will cost you your life," the extremists wrote on a wall of the church.
The mob burned all of Anand's belongings, damaging much of his home as well.
Knowing the dangers he could face for sharing the Gospel in a dangerous region, Pastor Anand has faithfully served the Lord in that place for the past eight years.
Many GFA missionaries are paying the price with heavy persecution. But Jesus is faithful to build His Church. And the lives of Asian believers, like the ones pictured here, remind them that in the end it is worth it.
GFA World is committed to standing with our persecuted brothers and sisters and helping them rebuild their lives in tangible ways.
