GFA World's Apprenticeship

Pursue God's Mission

GFA World's apprenticeship is a 6-month opportunity for you to come and experience life in the missions world by serving as a "behind-the-scenes missionary" in Wills Point, Texas. You will serve with a community of believers who are actively engaged in God's mission of transforming communities through Christ's love. The apprenticeship also serves as preparation for what's next in your life; whether that be full-time missions or another opportunity God has called you to. The apprenticeship is a chance for you to develop a heart for global missions, deepen your walk with God, and make an eternal difference.

Why Serve With Us

You will be serving with a community that is seeing Jesus transform the lives of the “least of these” every single day. That’s the impact you’ll have by serving here. The apprenticeship enables you to support national missionaries currently active in Asia and Africa, often where no other Christian has ministered before, so that together we can enable entire communities to hear about Christ for the first time and be transformed by His love.
This opportunity is for individuals who are looking for growth and responsibility, and who are willing to make sacrifices to serve.

  • Develop a Heart for Global Missions

Learn about the 10/40 Window and the 3 billion people who have never heard the name of Christ, actively intercede with us on their behalf, and share in God's heart for the nations.

  • Deepen Your Walk with God

Strengthen spiritual disciplines through dedicated time of prayer, worship, and intentional solitude with the Lord.

  • Make an Eternal Difference

Serve in a role knowing that your daily work enables people to hear about Christ for the first time.

What to Expect

Purpose and Mission

The apprenticeship exists to help equip you to discover Christ’s purpose for your life — to know Him and make Him known all over the world, here or elsewhere. You will serve in a community that has the purpose and mission of giving the love of Christ to those in Asia and Africa who have never heard about Him before.

Roles and Responsibilities

You will participate and contribute your time and abilities as a behind-the-scenes missionary in one of our many departments: radio and broadcasting, digital media, IT, partner development, visual media, facilities and more. Your work will be integral in supporting our purpose and mission.

Spiritual and Personal Growth

From intentional times of prayer and weekly church services, to focused time with the Lord and community prayer meetings, this apprenticeship offers multiple opportunities for you to deepen your walk with the Lord during your time here.

Training and Mentorship

The apprenticeship includes dedicated time with mentors, connection with the GFA World staff, and training from our leaders. Much of this will occur during your focus day — a day of the week set apart to help you spend intentional time with the Lord, hear stories from staff members, and interact with fellow apprentices through book studies and conversations.

Community Living

You will be provided with free housing and monthly stipend while you are here. You are responsible for your own meals and management of your living space with your fellow apprentices. In addition to serving in the office each week day (besides your focus day), you will experience dinners with new and long-time staff members and participate in prayer meetings and work/church events.

Career and Ministry Development

It’s more than just gaining missions awareness, practical work experience and a deeper walk with the Lord — it’s about what you can give as well. You can make an eternal difference in someone’s life: to help them hear about the hope and love of Christ for the first time. Above all else, sharing the Good News with those who have never heard — that is the most valuable thing that you can be a part of.

We Believe...

  • That the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God, given to us by the Church - "the pillar and ground of the truth" (1 Timothy 3:15).
  • The Nicene Creed to be the official Creed of the Holy Church.
  • In one God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and that these three are co-eternal and of equal dignity and power.
  • In the deity of Jesus Christ; His miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit; His virgin birth; His sinless life; His death on a cross; His bodily resurrection; His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and His personal, imminent return.
  • That man was created by and for God; that by man's disobeying God, every person incurred spiritual death, which meant they were no longer in communion with God, and physical death was the consequence; and that all people are given the option of being redeemed and restored to God.
  • The Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him are declared righteous because of His victory over death and are, therefore, in right relationship with God.
  • Salvation means far more than being "saved from sin; we are saved for sonship, to be divinely adopted sons and daughters of God. Forgiveness is the precondition for God's greater gift, the gift that will last beyond our death: the gift of divine life" (1 Corinthians 15:3-7).
  • Believers in Christ are destined to share in the life of the Holy Trinity. Sharing in the life of God, as God has shared in our humanity (1 Peter 1:4).
  • In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and thus enabling and empowering the life and ministry of the believer.
  • In the bodily resurrection of everyone who has lived, the everlasting blessedness of those in right relationship with God, and eternal separation for those who have rejected God's forgiveness in His Son.
  • The sacrament of marriage to be ordained by God as a holy union between one man and one woman as biologically defined at birth.

As a ministry, it is our fervent desire that all we do would flow out of our relationship with the Lord and His work within us. We established 10 core values to help us stay on course with the calling He has on our lives through this ministry. The first five relate to our inner life. The last five relate to the outflow of our lives to others. These core values are:

  1. Knowing the Lord Jesus more fully and intimately
  2. Being a people of integrity and excellence
  3. Living in submission to God's Word
  4. Being a people of faith
  5. Being a people committed to prayer and worship
  6. Having a servant lifestyle
  7. Being a people of grace and love
  8. Serving sacrificially
  9. Being a people with a passion for souls
  10. Being a people who work together with the Body of Christ

We strive to live by these values as God gives us grace. We believe that in doing so, we will reflect Christ's life and make Him known to a generation that is dying without ever hearing His name.
