GFA World's Apprenticeship Program

What is the Program

GFA World's apprenticeship program is a 6-month opportunity for you to come and experience life in the missions world. The apprenticeship provides preparation for what's next in your life—whether that be full-time ministry or another opportunity God has called you to. Surrounded by a community of believers, you will have the chance to serve as a "behind-the-scenes missionary," utilizing and growing your skills in the process. The program offers more than just an ordinary office job; it is the chance to deepen your walk with God through practical spiritual disciplines, build relationships with a Christ-centered community, and learn about God's heart for the nations.

Why the Apprenticeship

GFA World is an international missions organization where we are committed to serving the "least of these" in Africa and Asia, often in places where no one else is serving, so that they can experience the love of Christ for the first time. We support national missionaries who serve as the hands and feet of Christ in four main ways: ministering to people's needs, sponsoring children, investing in community development, and most importantly, sharing the Good News.

We are also committed to inspiring others here in the Western part of the world to fulfill Christ's call in their own lives. That is why we started our apprenticeship program.

  • Develop a Heart for Global Missions

Learn about the 10/40 Window, the 3 billion people who have never heard the name of Christ, and God's heart for the nations.

  • Deepen Your Walk with God

Strengthen spiritual disciplines through dedicated time in prayer, worship, and solitude with the Lord.

  • Make an Eternal Difference

Serve in a role knowing that your daily work enables people to hear about Christ for the first time.

Whether you are a young adult, in a season of transition, or retired, we desire to help you know God and make Him known. This opportunity is for individuals who are open to growth and making sacrifices for their spiritual calling, who feel drawn to missions but don’t know where they fit in yet.

What to Expect

Purpose and Mission

The apprenticeship program exists to help raise up and equip godly individuals to help them discover Christ’s call in their own lives — to know Him and make Him known all over the world, wherever they may go.

Roles and Responsibilities

Each apprentice will have the opportunity to participate and contribute their time and abilities as a behind-the-scenes missionary in one of our many departments: radio and broadcasting, digital media, IT, partner development, accounting, visual media and more.

Spiritual and Personal Growth

From intentional times of daily prayer and weekly church services, to focused time with the Lord and community prayer meetings, this program offers multiple opportunities for individuals to deepen their walk with the Lord during their time here.

Training and Mentorship

A special part of our program includes dedicated time with mentors, connection with the GFA World staff, and training from our leaders. Much of this occurs during the apprentices' focus day — a weekly day devoted for them to spend time with the Lord, hear stories from staff members, and interact with their fellow apprentices through book studies and conversations.

Community Living

Apprentices will be provided with free housing — living life along with other fellow apprentices. In addition to working 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day (aside from their focus day), they will experience dinners with staff members and participate in prayer meetings and work/church events.

Career and Ministry Development

It’s more than just gaining missions awareness, practical work experience and a deeper walk with the Lord — it’s about what you can give as well. You can make an eternal difference in someone’s life: to help them hear about the hope and love of Christ for the first time. Above all else, sharing the Good News with those who have never heard — that is the most valuable thing that you can be a part of.
