Faith for Two Kinds of Vision

"When a child is born into a family, everyone is happy, and that's the way I feel when a new person comes to my church," Gospel for Asia missionary Sandeep Kishan explains.

When Sandeep first came to this area in Haryana, India, it seemed nearly impossible to reach a large number of people with the Gospel. When God provided Sandeep with a bicycle—both through his sacrificial savings and the gifts of GFA friends in the West—he finally had a way to fulfill the vision the Lord gave him.

Now, Sandeep rides constantly and sees many people come to Christ.

One family among these new believers invited him to lead a prayer and Bible study meeting in their home. Life has not been easy for this husband and wife. Their little son, Bijoy, lost his sight. And people in their community mocked them, saying that the family's new God was at fault. But Sandeep is determined to focus on the Lord's faithfulness, and his faith is strong.

"God is going to fulfill His promise," Sandeep states as he leaves the prayer meeting at Bijoy's house.

The Lord has already answered many prayers in Sandeep's life, especially about his own vision for reaching the lost. His vision—his all-consuming desire—is to reach all the unreached areas around him with the Gospel.

And just as Sandeep has sacrificed for his vision, riding miles and miles in heat and dust on his bicycle, he is willing to sacrifice for the sake of little Bijoy's vision.

"I am going to fast for the next 21 days," Sandeep said. "I am mainly praying for Bijoy while I fast."

Today, as Sandeep's vision becomes a reality, he faces a practical dilemma. He needs a church building to hold all the people who have trusted Christ—people whose stories represent God's redemption. And in spite of the obstacles of money, land and building supplies, Sandeep trusts God to do this miracle as He has done so many times before.

As Sandeep pours himself into the ministry God has given him, God brings the fruit—fulfilling His promise to bring in the harvest. And Sandeep continues believing that God will answer prayers to heal Bijoy and provide a church building.

"God has really blessed me," Sandeep shared. "He has given fruit through all the hard work I have been doing.

"I am excited!"
