Christmas came in June to this remote village tucked away in Uttar Pradesh, India.
GFA World helped change all that by drilling a Jesus Well in the village where native missionary Harish Kumar serves. This simple hand-pumped well produces clean, fresh drinking water all year long.
GFA World native missionary Atul Milan and his family serve in this village. They came to spread the love of Jesus to these poor and forgotten people.
Atul is pastor of a GFA-related church in the village, and it is completely full each week. Gifts from the GFA Christmas Gift Catalog have been a special blessing to this church. Five new families have chosen to follow Christ after experiencing His love through the gifts.
Kala Sanket is a student in the local Bridge of Hope center. She, her mother and brother are some of the new believers who came to faith in Jesus through the Christmas gifts. Kala's father was an alcoholic and would regularly beat his family when he was drunk. Although he has yet to receive Christ, he has given up alcohol because of their prayers.
Kala's family is very poor, but because they received a goat from Atul's church, they can sell the milk to make extra money.
Asha Rani, another new believer, received a hand-cranked sewing machine during the church's gift distribution. With this sewing machine, she makes clothes to sell in the market.
Asha's daughter, Nilima, is handicapped and cannot walk. She currently attends the Bridge of Hope center. Since her legs do not work properly, the hand-cranked sewing machine will enable her to work as a tailor when she grows up.
Zahra Qadir is a widow with two children, and she had no way to support her family. Her landlord was even threatening to kick her out because she could not pay the rent.
Like Asha and Nilima, Zahra received a sewing machine through the Christmas catalog gift distribution. Now, because of the money she makes from sewing, she is able to pay her bills.
And best of all, Zahra is opening her heart to the Gospel. She even visits Atul's church. Here she is on her first Sunday there.
The Christmas gifts given in this village are not only helping the poor have a better quality of life on earth, but they are also opening doors to share about God's gift of eternal life.
