Keeping a promise made in January, GFA World presented 15 new fishing boats like these to 40 families who had lost their livelihoods in the tsunami.
On the day of the presentation, recipients gather in a marriage hall for a prayer service of thanks for the boats.
Field leader Ebenezer Samuel explains how the love of Jesus motivates GFA's desire to provide the new boats.
After the prayer service, the tsunami survivors move to the beach where their new fishing boats are waiting. Two families will share the 26-foot fishing boats, while four families will jointly own 31-foot boats.
Arulrajan and his wife Rani (r) and their partners stand proudly in front their new fishing boat. This boat will enable them to earn a living again for the first time since the tsunami last December.
Ebenezer "Ebey" Samuel presents a certificate of ownership to Arulrajan and his partners—the proud new owners of a GFA-supplied fishing boat.
"Brother Ebey" prays for the new owners, committing them and their new boat to the Lord.,Arulrajan and his partners display their boat certificate. Arulrajan eagerly shares the Good News with others and is active in his local church.
Arulrajan and his partners attach the outboard motor to their new fishing boat.
Ruban and his wife Thilaga and their partners express their gratitude to the Lord for providing them with a new fishing boat.
Baskal, who lost her husband to the tsunami, has not had a way of earning a living during the last seven months. Her new fishing boat means that now she will be able to provide for her children.
For many others, like these women awaiting food rations, hope is still elusive. That's why GFA World is committed to stay and minister to the victims of the tsunami.
