A New Family

February 2026

GFA Missionaries help bring hope to those who have none.

It had been 10 years since Chloe’s husband had died. At first her son, Mason, took care of her. He loved her very much and helped her in every area of her life. But after he got married, problems and misunderstandings crept in.

His wife left him, and as Mason began to drink, his help waned. His friends encouraged him to drink all the time, and his life began to spiral. He’d come home late at night and began to neglect his mother.

Despite the neglect, Chloe stayed, likely hoping for change, but Mason’s bad habits and behavior continued.

The Sickness

Then, Chloe became ill and bedridden. Mason believed it was just a common sickness that would go away, but Chloe grew weaker. Hearing that her condition had worsened, Chloe’s neighbors persuaded Mason to take her to a hospital. There, the doctor diagnosed Chloe with asthma and discharged her three days later.

The Visit

One day, GFA pastor, Liam, was visiting people in a nearby village and happened to meet Chloe. As they talked, he told her about Jesus and His love.

When Chloe was sick, God sent Pastor Liam to encourage her. When she was neglected, God gave her a new family.
Chloe told Pastor Liam everything about her family troubles and asked if Pastor Liam would pray for her healing and the transformation of her son. Pastor Liam agreed and encouraged her from the Bible.

Chloe started attending the worship services at Pastor Liam’s church. Eventually, she desired to put her trust in Jesus. She had discovered the "Defender of widows” (see Psalm 68:5), and the church body became like a second family to her by providing for her and caring for her needs.

When Chloe was sick, God sent Pastor Liam to encourage her. When she was neglected, God gave her a new family. Even when she could not see it, God was there, looking out for her because He loves her. Many others are finding healing in Christ and are becoming part of the transformation taking place in their communities.
