A world-class hospital and medical university is being built in Kigali, Rwanda.
This facility will serve as a base for training medical professionals and advancing research across the continent of Africa. Our model is built on the success of BCMC Hospital in India, which has demonstrated how Christ-centered healthcare can transform communities while providing world-class medical care.
4 Key Components for Exponential Impact
The hospital will have 300 beds and state-of-the-art equipment to serve the health care needs of people in the immediate region and beyond.
It will include 12 to 14 specialist departments, including cardiology, neurology and intensive care units.
We estimate serving 500,000+ outpatients in the first 2 years of operations.
Our facility is situated just six miles from the capital, Kigali, where nearly 900,000 people live. It will be the second major hospital in a country with a population of more than 14 million and only about 1,500 doctors. As we employ hundreds of medical professionals—and train hundreds more every year—we aim to reduce that disproportionate ratio so quality health care can be available to all people who need it.
This hospital will be Christ-centered and holistic, offering both patients and their families prayer, Bibles and a place to seek the Lord at the onsite chapel.
The Staff and Student Quarters is crucial to the development of the hospital and medical university. It will allow for international medical professionals to live near the hospital and university for prolonged periods while they live with and train local health workers.
Our desire is, through our medical university, to provide a source of medical professionals with the field of expertise required for their own nations' particular needs and growing population. Through this endeavor, we are providing the rising generation with the resources they need for their continent to thrive.
The medical university will welcome 100+ students in medicine and allied sciences each year, multiplying the hospital's impact by actively training doctors and medical professionals (such as nurses) from Rwanda and other African nations. It will create a steady flow of new professionals to ensure this important work continues far into the future.
Everyone who attends the university for medical education will be given a strong understanding of underserved areas and the underprivileged. They'll have opportunities for practical training on the field, helping with medical camps and gaining real-world experience.
The medical university is a catalyst to long-term service and ministry throughout the continent. We expect to recruit students from across Africa who have a passion and desire to use their training to serve those most in need within their home communities.
Upon graduation, they'll be equipped to start medical clinics, helping under-resourced communities. And right alongside, will be opportunities to express the compassionate heart of Christ. Through this extension of ministry, new churches can be established, extending healing and hope to all who come.
The new Research and Development Centre will encompass the specialized sectors of medicine, offering high-end services and expert-level care in areas such as oncology, transplantation, and more.
This cutting-edge Research and Development Centre will also help bring major research and medical discoveries impacting local populations who will benefit the most. They won't have to go looking outside their own borders to find help and healing because we'll be able to do the researching for them.
Expanding our reach across the continent.
Work is beginning in Liberia with future announcements planned. Our vision extends beyond Rwanda to bring Christ-centered healthcare to communities throughout Africa.
This medical campus will be a tremendous resource beyond the borders of the country and will provide ongoing relationships with communities that, otherwise, we may never have been able to connect with.
Your gift helps bring Christ-centered healthcare to communities across Africa who need it most.
