Compassion Services

Gospel for Asia's Compassion Services is bringing Christ's love to the suffering and needy in very practical ways. GFA-supported missionaries and volunteers assist survivors of natural disasters by providing food, water, medical care, clothing and even shelter. Teams also minister to slum dwellers and leprosy patients in some of Asia's major cities. And all is done with a clear Gospel witness.

Outdoor Toilet

$54 to $540

Approximately 2.4 million deaths could be prevented annually if people had appropriate hygiene practices, including reliable sanitation. Nearly 20 percent of the world's population is forced to go to the bathroom out in the open. For only $540, you will help reduce the risk of common diseases by providing a family with an outdoor toilet. The external structure will vary, however each unit includes a dual-tank system for optimized sanitation.

Blanket

$25

On those blustery winter nights during the winter season, who doesn’t like to curl up under a warm, soft blanket? That’s not possible for many impoverished families in Asia. Many live in homes that lack sufficient heat and protection against the harsh winter elements. Your gift of $25 for a blanket will provide much-needed warmth and comfort.

Slum Ministry

Tens of millions of people in Asia live in the squalor of slums—in one-room shanties, usually without electricity, running water or toilets. But through slum ministry, the Lord is giving people in slums the chance for a better life. Gospel for Asia-supported national workers serving in slums teach adult literacy classes and tutor children. They disseminate information about health and hygiene. They distribute income-generating gifts, along with practical gifts, like water filters, toilets and clothing. They also share with slum dwellers about the greatest gift anyone could gain: the love and mercy of Jesus Christ.

Medical Ministry

$40 to $375

Gospel for Asia’s Medical Ministry teams of trained nurses and doctors visit dozens of villages, and Bridge of Hope Centers, ministering to thousands of people each year, all in the name of the Great Physician—Jesus Christ.

Leprosy Ministry

The main goal of our leprosy ministry is to share the love of Jesus and the hope of the Gospel with the victims of this disfiguring disease. At the same time, we seek to help them with the many needs and challenges they face in their personal lives, their families and their colonies.

Compassion Services

Compassion Services meets the needs of people in dire situations. During the coronavirus pandemic, for example, GFA missionaries provided face masks, soap, groceries and cooked meals to thousands of people impacted by lockdowns.

When you give to Compassion Services you help enable us to serve people in many needed ways, such as ministering to those in slums and leprosy colonies and even bringing medical care to remote areas. Each area of ministry provides practical, relevant help during times of crisis, such as when poverty becomes life-threatening or after natural disasters. Through these ministries, GFA missionaries are revealing God’s compassion to people in desperate need.

“I lost my mother three years ago, and my father has health issues and he is unable to walk. We depend on begging for our survival. But due to lockdown, we are starving and sleeping [with] empty stomachs. I thank you for providing food [for] us every day.” —a 7-year-old girl, recipient of pandemic relief supplies

“[This] ration is a great help and . . . has not only helped us physically, but it has raised hope within us that everything is not bad during this lockdown. Even though there is no job, there is no work, there is no food—life is at a standstill and nothing is happening around us—it raises a hope within us that somebody loves us, somebody cares for us. … Humanity is serving people in need, and they have done it. … The church has done it perfectly.” —Ajani, pandemic food relief recipient

“[GFA World] has a rich legacy of being responsive to humanitarian crises, doing these initiatives in various parts of the country. [We] hope to make a difference to the vulnerable and marginalized and hope they overcome these unprecedented circumstances.” —Laini, a national missionary
