My GFA Story

Thirty-eight years ago, I prayed for a man named KP Yohannan and his wife, Gisela. At a 1990's AGLOW conference, I learned of a Prayer initiative targeting where 97% of 3 billion Gospel-unreached people live. It was there where I first saw a woman totally shrouded in a Burka. Right then, I committed: I’d pray for these women and their children. I obtained a “Pray for the World” 10/40 Window Map, placed it on my master bedroom bathroom door and prayed over it for decades. A 2018 call from Bishop Danny revealed I’d been recommended for the ministry’s receptionist position! Would I be interested? Then I remembered it was a Gospel For Asia "Pray for the World” Map I’d long been praying over, and yes, I was interested! Reading “Revolution In World Missions,” I realized I could make an impact for eternity partnering with GFA. Their breadth and depth of Gospel outreach into this region far exceeded my highest aspirations for sharing God's love and grace with more people. Gratefully, now I'm fulfilling one of my life's guiding verses: Proverbs 31: 8-9, “Open thy mouth for the mute (those unable to speak for themselves) in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. 9. Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

What I do

Technically, serving Gospel for Asia as a part of Donor Services, I’m the first person one sees entering the ministry’s U.S. home office building. Essentially, I “Meet & Greet” all GFA guests and staff. I also secure the front lobby doors. Greeting and ascertaining guests’ reasons for visiting, I invite them to register so I can issue them an appropriate Visitor or Vendor badge to wear during their stay. Then I obtain an escort for them until they check out. The building is always secured, assuring protection of donors’ confidential information. I consider any Books/Tracts/Welcome Packets I'm able to give to guests as a small part of equipping them to be “Ambassadors” for GFA. Additionally, I assist the Mission Support Team in the processing of “Bridge Of Hope” children’s Sponsor Letters by reading and editing them for nations’ Customs clearance. For Donor Relations and Fulfillment, I make Postmasters’ address changes in sponsors’ records. My focusing question is always: “How may I help you?”

About Partnering with Behind-the-Scenes Missionaries

You can help provide for a member of the Mission Support Team for as little as $50 per month. For each monthly pledge to GFA World’s Behind-the-Scenes Missionary Fund, you will receive a packet that includes the photo and personal information of a behind-the-scenes missionary you can pray for and contact. (To pledge more than $50 monthly, please call us at 1-800-946-2742.)

Whatever role the team member plays in their administrative office—from contacting ministry supporters to processing donations or designing web pages—each one fills a crucial need within the ministry and enables more than 100 national missionaries to minster in Asia.
